I recently changed my air compressor as it had failed. The front right side of the car used to drop overnight so changed the suspension air bag along with the compressor. The car no longer drops as it used to, but I still hear the compressor turn on for a few seconds in the morning which indicates there still may be a leak somewhere.
Before I changed the compressor, it was very noisy so I could clearly hear when it turned on. The compressor would turn on almost every time the car speed went above 40km/h and would turn off when I went above 60km/h. When decreasing speed, it would turn off when the car slowed down to 20km/h. With the new compressor I hear a faint sound (shhp) when the compressor turns off and I have noticed it is still doing the same after changing the compressor and air bag.
My question is: Is this normal?
I fear that this may be the reason the compressor failed in the first place and if so, I need to address this issue before the new compressor fails.
Any help and guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you.
